Dr. Michelle Shimonova, or Dr. Michelle as many patients affectionately call her, was born and raised in New York. She saw a future for herself in dentistry at a young age. She graduated Cum Laude from Adelphi University’s accelerated 7-year dental program with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, and a minor in English. The joint program propelled her to New York University College of Dentistry, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree as one of the youngest students in her class. Dr. Shimonova then completed her residency training at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, where she was able to provide a broad spectrum of therapeutic and preventative services, including implant restorations, root canal therapy, fixed and removable prosthodontics, and periodontal treatment.
Dr. Shimonova is dedicated to practicing patient-centered comprehensive care, encouraging her patients to value their oral health and raising awareness about the relation of teeth to the rest of the body. She takes the time to listen to chief complaints and then explain the reasoning behind every procedure she plans and how to avoid progression of disease in-office and at home. She aims to get to know each patient, make them laugh, and feel comfortable in her dental chair. She is Invisalign certified and belongs to organizations such as the American Dental Association and American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Aside from dentistry, Dr. Shimonova loves traveling the world, eating vibrant new foods and learning to cook them along the way, as well as reading, hiking, and hanging out with family, friends, and her tiny pooch- a miniature schnauzer named TJ.
